10/28/2021 11:14:04 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 28: Amid a sudden spike in the “target killing” of non-locals in Kashmir, two such persons have died under mysterious circumstances in less than a week in the valley.
In the latest incident, on October 28, a non-local resident was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Yousmarg area of Chararisharief in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday morning.
An official said that the body of non-local person was spotted by some locals at Sukhnag Yousmarg, who accordingly informed police.
He said that police reached the spot and took the body to the hospital.
“The deceased has not been identified yet and seems the non-local has died due to cold,” he said, adding that an investigation has been started in this regard.
Prior to this on October 22, body of an “unsound non-local person with head injury” was found in mysterious circumstances at Janglatmandi in South Kashmir district of Anantnag.
The police had ruled out any militant hand in the incident and registered the case in this matter.
Official sources had told a news gathering agency, the body of an unidentified non-local, allegedly unsound with mind, with a severe head injury was found by locals at Shamshan Ghat Bilal Colony near Janglatmandi who informed the police accordingly.
While officials are ruling out any militancy angle in the twin incidents, the deaths have taken place when the non-locals have been bearing the brunt of militant attacks.
On October 17, two non-local labourers were gunned down by terrorists in Wanpoh area of Kulgam district. Another grievously wounded labourer was treated for multiple injuries.
The incident was the third attack on non-locals in Kashmir in two days. A street vendor from Bihar was killed in the Eidgah area of Srinagar a day before the incident. A carpenter from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh was killed at Litter in Pulwama district on the same day.
So far, 11 people have been killed in targeted attacks in Kashmir, including five hailing from other states in the recent past.
