LAMP observes National Education Day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 12: Learner's Ability Management Programme (LAMP) in collaboration with Department of Education, University of Jammu organized Vth Millennial Conclave on the occasion of National Education Day. Prof Aaron Benavot from University at Albany-SUNY was the guest speaker whereas Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice-chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest. The theme of the conclave was "Are distinctive conceptions of global citizenship discernible in Asian education systems? Emergent concepts and content domains in the intended curriculum of 23 Asian countries" Prof Renu Nanda, Head and Dean, Faculty of Education also greeted the participants and threw light on the significance of the day. She said that this day is a tribute to all the great contributions made by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in the field of the education system of independent India and also improving the country's current performance in the field. Prof Aaron talked about the background to emergent interest in global citizenship education, overall aims of UNESCO-APCEIU Project, legal citizenship to active citizenship, emergence of global citizenship, lines of critique of existing measurement approaches, three different line analysis, etc. Prof. Dhar while extending his greetings on National Education Day laid emphasis on the need for reimagining higher education and to unleash the creative temper in every learner in a congenial environment by referring the recommendations of NEP 2020. He suggested that universal high quality of higher education should be imparted to Indian youths as they are the reservoirs of the innovative ideas and main power to the economy and the democracy. He also emphasized on students and faculty collaborations at national and international level for improving the quality of education system and thus leading to global citizenship. |
