| VLW infringes upon rights of Sarpanch; initiates work, releases payment of his own | | | Ajay Sharma

SUNDERBANI, Dec 3: A Village Level Worker (VLW) has allegedly infringed upon the rights of a Sarpanch in Tehsil Pouni, Panchayat Kouthia. Concerned Sarpanch, Neelam Kumari Sharma said that a VLW is violating set protocols by infringing upon her rights of being the public representative.
She said, this village level worker has adopted a strange behaviour of bypassing Sarpanch while initiating any development work in the village.
“Since past couple of months, this VLW has started ignoring me, despite being sarpanch of the village and carrying out works without my knowledge,” said Neelam adding that he initiates work of his own and even releases bills in favour of the contractors.
She said that she has already filed a telephonic complaint in this regard with the higher officials, but nothing substantial has been done so far. “Even administration is not taking any action against him, how he continues to ignore public representatives,” said Neelam. She has made a fervent appeal to LG to look into the matter and initiate an enquiry against the VLW as well as the administration for taking the very nature of Panchayati Raj institutions for granted..
The VLW refused the allegations and said that the Junior Engineer would be the best person to talk to. However, despite repeated attempts, ACD Reasi was not available for comments. |
