‘Kashmir not only place that witnessed tourism boom in November’ | Foreign locations closed due to Covid, all prominent destinations across country jam packed | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 3: Tourism Department is trumpeting that 1,27,605 tourists visited Kashmir in November this year which is more than all the figures in the month in the past seven years. An analyst while talking to Early Times said that Kashmir was not the only place in the country which witnessed tourist rush. “Most cities across the country were filled with the tourists as the foreign tourist destinations are closed for outsiders. The Tourism Department is creating much ado about nothing,” he added. The analyst said, “Tourists visiting the Valley have been a part and parcel of Kashmir for the past so many decades, but the officials in J&K have started blowing the arrival of tourists out of proportion. Tourists arriving in the Valley is nothing new.” It’s in place to mention here that Director, Tourism Kashmir, Dr GN Itoo had said that his department conducted some of the iconic festivals like houseboat festival, the Sufi festival in which the national level celebrities had participated and also literary festival because of which a buzz was created at the national as well as the international level. The analyst said, “Such festivals have been conducted in the past also. And it was not for the first time that such events were held in the Valley. More than numbers, the government should focus on improving facilities for the tourists. Creating noise is not going to help anyone’s cause.” |
