Director Horticulture P&M conducts extensive tour of Chenab Region districts

DODA, Dec 3: Director Horticulture (Planning & Marketing) J&K Vishesh Pal Mahajan conducted two day extensive tour of the districts of Doda and Kishtwar and reviewed the implementation of government schemes and interventions for empowerment of farmers, growers, entrepreneurs Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO)s, societies and Self Help Groups and other stakeholders and strengthening Agriculture Marketing and optimum returns and creating needy marketing infrastructure.
He was accompanied by Dy. Director Jammu, Aijaz Ahmed Natnoo; Assistant Director (Grading & Packing), Tehsin Iqbal Chib, Assistant Director (T), Sourabh Sarangal; Area Marketing Officer Doda-Kishtwar, Sunil Singh; AEE and JE of Engineering wing (J), and PA - S. Charan Kamal Singh.
On day one, the Director inspected the Fruit and Vegetable Mandi Batote and issued instructions to the Engineering wing regarding the infrastructural development issues and also distributed trade Licenses to the market functionaries of the Mandi.
He also inspected the construction work going on at Farmer Market at Kanderi Nalla. The Director asked the engineering wing and AMO Doda to ensure the inauguration of the mandi in January-2022.
Thereafter he met with Saffron Growers and FPO members of Pochaal Kishtwar District and took cognizance of the saffron marketing methodology. Giving a patient hearing to their issues, he redressed many grievances on the spot and directed the accompanying officers to take note of the rest and resolved the same in the stipulated time frame.
The Director also met with Dy. Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma and apprised him about the functioning of the department in the district.
Later, the Director accompanied by the DC visited the Atholi-Paddar area where he chaired a Farmer / PRIs Camp . He acquainted the participants about the value addition, e-NAM/ and digital marketing and other farmer oriented schemes.
On his return, the Director held a meeting with farmers and PRIs of Galhar Block Nagsani and mitigated their marketing issues on the spot as well. Officers of allied departments were also present in the awareness camp. He interacted with President of
