GDC Billawar organises lecture on non-communicable diseases

Jammu, Dec 3: GDC Billawar today organized a lecture on Non-Communicable Diseases and free medicines distribution camp in collaboration with ISM Department.
Under the aegis of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”, NSS and NCC units of GDC Billawar organized a lecture and free medicines distribution camp for the students and teachers of the college. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. Anita Jamwal.
A detailed lecture was delivered by Dr. Sabitya Thakur on the prevalence of Non-Communicable diseases (NCD) like Cardio vascular diseases, Chronic Respiratory Diseases, Cancer and Diabetes in the society. She told that NCD are the major cause of deaths in the world which contributes about 71%.
She briefed the gathering about the causes and preventive measures of NCD. Dr. Indu Sharma was aware the gathering about the medicines available in the ISM department for the treatment of above diseases. Thereafter, free medicines were distributed among the students and faculty.
The programme got culminated with the motivational talk of Principal Prof. Anita Jamwal in which she impressed upon the students to aware the community about Non-Communicable diseases and its preventive measures.
A formal vote of thanks to the staff of ISM Department is also presented by worthy Principal. The camp was organized by Assistant Prof. Yash Paul, NSS PO, Dr. Rajni NCC CT. Associate Professor Lekh Raj, Assistant Professors Raman Kumar, Dr. Pinkey and Dr. Sunil Dutt were also present on the occasion.
