DC Rajouri chairs DRSC meet
Seeks collective efforts for effective enforcement of road safety norms

RAJOURI, Dec 3: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) to discuss and finalize the implementation of traffic management plan in the district.
The meeting was attended by the ASP, Vivek Shekhar; CMO, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; DIO, Narinder Kumar; ARTO, Shami Kumar; ExEn PWD Rajouri, Maqbool Hussain; ExEn Jal Shakti Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed besides others concerned officers attended the meeting.
A discussion on various points including finalization of District road safety plan, implementation of ribbon act, shifting of maxi cabs from old bus stand to Bela Colony, identification of black spots, installation of crash barriers, organisation of road safety awareness camps etc was held threadbare in the meeting.
Referring to the implementation of the Ribbon act, the DC asked the concerned officers to identify the structures constructed along the roadside and get them removed at the earliest under the provision of the Act.
Deliberating upon the complaints of overcharging from the passengers, the ARTO apprised that regular Nakas are being conducted to tighten the noose around violators. He also sought the active cooperation of the Traffic Department for the strict implementation of the revised fare rates in the larger public interest.
Discussing the shifting of maxi cabs operating from Old Bus Stand, the DC directed for the immediate shifting of the maxi cabs to Bela Colony to reduce the traffic congestion in the city area.
The DC said that collective efforts are required to minimize road accidents and urged the concerned officers to ensure close interdepartmental coordination for implementing road safety measures.
He also emphasized that road safety is a matter of immense importance and enhancement of safety by way of formulating a comprehensive action plan, therefore, deserves priority attention of all the stakeholders
The DC asked to identify the black spots on the roads and take corrective measures in accident-prone areas by fixing signboards and other precautionary measures.
He also directed the concerned officer from the Motor Vehicle Department to keep organising special road safety awareness camps and generate awareness among the masses about the road safety parameters and motivate them to follow the golden rules of traffic.
