NYK organises district level declamation contest

UDHAMPUR, Dec 7: As part of the celebration of "Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav(India@75), Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur (Ministry of Youth Affairs& Sports GOI), today organized a District level declamation contest on Patriotism and Nation Building here on Government Degree College Boys campus. District Information Officer, Udhampur Rajinder Kumar Digra was the chief guest, while District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur Khushal Gupta presided over the programme.
The programme started with lighting of the traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Vandhana.
As many as 30 participants from across the District participated in the contest and threw light on the topic.
At the outset, Khushal Gupta welcomed the chief guest, Jury members and the participants on behalf of Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur. He briefed the participants about the objectives of the programme and the idea behind this initiative. He added that the participants at the district level were shortlisted after being screened at block level declamation contests. He informed that the district level winners of the Declamation contest will compete at the State/U.T level that will be organized very soon.
While addressing the participants, the chief guest appreciated the tireless efforts made by Nehru Yuva Kendra for organizing this contest. He said that the contest will help participants to demonstrate their talent on a common platform which would help in building self-confidence and disseminating awareness among the public. He urged the department to organize more such programmes in near future. The chief guest also threw light on the life history of Swami Vivekananda, APJ Abdul Kalam and their role in Nation Building and the significance of the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav event & its celebration.
The contestants spoke vehemently on the topic and expressed their views courageously.
Amandeep Singh from Block Ramnagar clinched first position, while Suhani Gupta from Block Ramnagar bagged second and Meenakshi Devi from Block Moungri stood third.
Dr. Rippy Bawa, Prof. Pooja Dheeman and Amar Dev Singh acted as judges. The day-long event concluded with the vote of thanks by Accounts & Programme Assistant Souravdeep Singh.
At the end, the merit certificates were given to all the participants.
