Srinagar, Dec 7: In a human gesture and communal harmony local Muslim of village Begam performed the last rite of a Hindu neighbor in south Kashmir district of Kulgam on Tuesday.
Muslims of village Begam performed the last rites of their neighbor 75-year-old Lajwanti Devi, a Kashmiri Rajput Hindu who died today morning after a brief illness.
According to reports, the Muslim neighbours joined hands to carry out all the formalities as per the Hindu religion rituals for the deceased woman's last rites during the cremation.
Rajinder Singh, her son said “Kashmiri Muslims and Pandits are equal and this bonding is eternal. The brotherhood and communal harmony is everlasting and this gathering is one such example of it," he said. |
