MVD Ramban books 400 vehicles on NH-44 for violation of Traffic rules amid ongoing drive | | | Early Times Report RAMBAN, Dec 7: Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) has booked 400 here on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway during its ongoing drive launched to tighten nooses around the traffic rule violators. The transporters were booked for violations like overloading, over-speeding, overcharging and other offenses under extant traffic rules during. Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Shafqat Majid and other MVD officials and Traffic police conducted the drive. Meanwhile, leading a checking squad at Seri, the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Massarat Islam personally inspected several vehicles and advised the passengers to check the condition of vehicle and other necessary documents before starting their journey. The DC said that MVD has also intensified the awareness drive across the district to sensitize the people, especially drivers and conductors about the traffic rules as well as road safety measures to avoid untoward incidents that claim precious lives. The DC informed that during the drive the Motor Vehicle Department Ramban has checked nearly 2500 vehicles and challaned 400 for different violations under MVD Act. He said that Traffic and District Police have also started such drives in different areas to avoid road accidents. The ARTO informed that today the MVD checking squad inspected more than 500 vehicles, of which 29 were booked for violations of rules. He also sensitized the drivers and transporters about the traffic rules, and documents required for them during driving. |
