GDC Kalakote observes blood donation campaign

KALAKOTE, Dec 7: Under the aegis of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Government Degree College Kalakote in collaboration with NSS unit and J&K AIDS Control Society is observing a series of events on the eve of World AIDS day for the implementation of new India @75 3rd phase.
Red Ribbon Club of GDC Kalakote with the support and guidance of Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GDC Kalakote organized a debate competition on “Blood Donation Awareness Campaign” in which a number of students took participation.
The event was commenced with a formal speech by member of Red Ribbon club Dr. Tariq Rashid where he highlighted that giving blood can be a life saving action and provide a vital service to the community and donating blood can help in help in treating patients suffering from serious health ailments.
Ruksana Kossar of BA Semester 5th bagged the First Prize, Pankaj Singh of BA semester 5th got the Second Prize and Komal of BA Semester 1st got the third prize in this competition. The judges of the event were, Dr Mohd Shakoor, Prof Priyanka Kumari, Vrinda Sharma and Pooja Rana.
On the occasion, Principal GDC Kalakote, Dr Romesh Kr Gupta shared his valuable views on blood donation, and the essential contribution blood donors make to keep the world pulsating by saving lives and improve others health and also remarked that it reinforces the global call for more people all over the world to donate blood regularly and contribute to better health. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks given by Jyoti Devi.
All teaching and Non teaching staff were also present in this occasion.
