GGM Science College organizes plantation drive

JAMMU, Dec 7: GGM Science College under the patronage of Principal Dr Ravender Tickoo and supervision of NSS PO, Dr Deepali Mahajan organized a plantation drive in the college campus under Clean India; Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. NSS volunteers planted saplings in the campus area encouraging others to grow more and more trees, nurture them and grow trees for better future on the valedictory day of the seven day long special winter camp Clean India. The plants Gulmohar, Neem, Arjuna and Amla were planted in different areas in college campus. NSS volunteers Anchal Singh, Sahil Sharma, Kartik Sharma, Pranav Sharma, Sonal Sharma, Vishal Sagar, Sarthik Vaid, Ajinka Sharma, Karanveer Singh, Suhani Sharma, Aman Mandi, Sunandni Sharma, Pallav Singh, Aaghav Arora, Sajal Mahajan, Reetik Kapahi, Neeru Devi, Divya Surmal participated enthusiastically. Trees help to combat global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide, removing and storing carbon while releasing oxygen back into the air. Trees help to improve air quality by intercepting and trapping dust and other pollutants from the air. The Institution has ignited and raised the level of environment consciousness among youths and made them responsible towards the conservation and preservation of the green environment, NSS PO said.
