ASSOCHAM delegation meets DGFT, submits suggestion for promotion of exports from J&K | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 10: The J&K council of Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) today submitted suggestions to Amit Yadav, Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for promotion of exports from Jammu & Kashmir. A delegation led by Manik Batra, Chairman, ASSOCHAM J&K Council today met DGFT in Jammu. In the representation shared by ASSOCHAM, the industry body suggested rail corridor from J&K to the nearest port in Gujarat. ASSOCHAM suggested subsidy/concession on freight, import-export exposition centres for Jammu and Srinagar cities, subsidy on horticulture produce and short-term course of import/exports for locals. “Jammu and Kashmir has number of products which can be exported to other countries. Suggestions submitted to DGFT can boost the exports from J&K,” said Batra. The DGFT was on his visit to Jammu to chair the export promotion through quality seminar organized by the Ministry of Commerce with Jammu Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) Ranjan Prakash Thakur, Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce, Ankita Kar, MD JKTPO among senior officers of DGFT and Industry and Commerce department of J&K were also present in the meeting. “Such seminars organized by JKTPO and DGFT encourage the local exporters to focus more on products of export potential. It also clears their doubts about the government policies,” Batra said. |
