MJR-47 welcomes open view presented on behalf of Delimitation Commission

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 12: MJR-47, Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from POJK has welcomed the open view presented on behalf of Delimitation Commission for JK on options for reservation of seats being considered by it.
The Movement spokesperson said that it seems that the Commission is considering to give floating seats to KP migrants on the pattern of Sikkim and Puduchery for Budhist Monks. This is a welcome step for according representation to community which has to migrate because of uncalled circumstances.
The spokesperson said that the organization understands and expects that similar gesture will be announced for Kashmir migrants Sikh as well as non-migrant Sikhs living in the valley who are facing the brunt of militancy throughout since 1989 and kept present the flag and face of India alive in valley. It is demanded that reserving at least two seats for Sikh migrants and two for non-migrant Sikhs living in valley must also be considered for their due representation. The Sikhs in J&K being miniscule minority do not get representation for participation in legislature.
This organization has always pleaded the newly expected pattern of representation for POJK DPs who migrated from Indian Territory during attack in 1947 which is still recognized to be integral part of India. Non representation for the large community of more than 14 lakh displaced persons of 1947 from POJK living in JK as well as throughout India will be adopting inequality with this class of Indians who not only defended Indian territory by losing more than 40,000 lives in 1947 and had faced great hardships for more than 70 years, said the spokesperson.
The spokesperson said this organization has made representations to the Govt as well Delimitation Commission to either accord 8-10 seats on the analogy of the migrants KPs being considered or accord 24 seats which have always been wrongly deducted from total elected membership as is evident from interpretation of provisions of reorganisation act, 2019. This stand is apart from the 24 seats reserved and to be opened when area will be occupied.
The Movement had demanded from GOI and Delimitation Commission to allot at least 10-12 seats to DPs living in JK and rest of India. Here is a chance before the GOI to give justice and end political discrimination against DPs through this DC. Hope that the Delimitation Commission and Government of India will confer the deserving and much awaited right of POJK DPs, the spokesperson said.
