Admin doesn’t want to give political space: Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 12: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was not allowed to hold the youth convention scheduled at the residence of its President Mehbooba Mufti. While the government cited security reasons and Covid restrictions, the PDP President said that the administration does not want to give political space to the youth of Kashmir. Police officials said that there were security concerns in holding the youth convention and as such the programme was disallowed. On the other hand a letter issued by an official of district administration said that based on a report of SSP Srinagar and due to the COVID-19 restrictions the youth convention of PDP was not allowed. The PDP President took potshots at the administration saying that there was ambiguity in the administration’s stand. She said that while on one side the government says that the convention cannot be held due to imposition of COVID-19 restrictions, on the other they said that there is a chance of some subversive activity. The administration said that since the convention was set to be participated by around 1000 youth the progamme could not be held due to imposition of COVID-19 restrictions. The administration said that the convention was also not held due to some adverse security related report of SSP Srinagar. |
