Awareness program on Janaushadhi Pariyojana organized at GMC Doda

DODA, Dec 15: Drugs and Food Control Organization, Jammu and Kashmir, in collaboration with Government Medical College, Doda today organized an awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) here on Make Shift Campus of GMC.
State Drugs Controller J&K, Lotika Khajuria was the chief guest & Prof Dr Noor Ali, Principal, GMC, Doda was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Among others present were Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Doda, Doctors of GMC, Doda, Assistant Drugs Controllers of Jammu Province, Block Medical Officers of all blocks, Drugs Control Officers, Paramedical Staff, representatives of Jan Aushadi Kendras attended the said programme.
The mega awareness program was conducted under the supervision of Farida Parveen, Assistant Drug Controller (Doda/Kishtwar); Iqbal Palla, Assistant Drug Controller, Jammu; Renuka Raina, Assistant Drug Controller (Ramban) and State Project Coordinator for Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana Dr Rifat Jan.
While briefing the media, State Drug Controller informed that prime objective of the awareness program was to provide common people access to affordable medicines so that they may not lose their lives because of lack of medicines. She said it was with this aim that the Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been planned across J&K UT.
On the occasion, Doctors & Drug Control Officers took a pledge extend the benefits of scheme to masses to lessen their burden /expenditure on medicines.
Under the scheme, dedicated outlets known as Jan Aushadhi Kendras are opened to provide generic medicines at affordable rates with quality & efficiency at par with branded medicine.
It was impressed upon the Doctors to prescribe medicine available at Jan Aushadhi Kendra as it will benefit the marginalized and underprivileged families.
