Kokernag family accuses doctor of cheating, demands justice | | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report
Anantnag, Dec 15: A family in South Kashmir’s Kokernag Wednesday accused a doctor, who is posted at Government Medical College Anantnag, of cheating and forcing them to get operated in a private nursing home for ureteric stone. Rashid Ahmad, 22, resident of Ahdan Gadol Kokernag was suffering from abdominal pain when he consulted doctors at Government Hospital in Kokernag. “Medicates at Kokernag told that there was doctor in Anantnag was prescribing medicines for this alignment and we should meet him,” Firdous Ahmad Naik, resident of Ahdan Gadol Kokernag told ET that his son, adding the doctor they suggested to be consulted was Dr Mohmmad Amin Sagroo. Dr Amin Sagroo is currently posted at Government Medical College Anantnag and he claims to be an Urologist. Firdous said that for weeks Dr Amin kept prescribing medicines but it didn’t yield any result and my son couldn’t get any relief from the pain. “We also visited GMC Anantnag but doctors there too advised us to get operated in any private hospital as such operations weren't being done at GMC and the results of tests being conducted at the hospital weren’t also up to the mark,” remembers Firdous. “At Wani Hospital Anantnag our Golden Card was entertained and Dr Amin Shab operated on my son and told us that he removed the 9.2mm ureteric stone,” he said. Firdous said that as his son didn’t get relief after the surgery he decided to consult the doctor again. “We met him and he started giving son medicines again and told us that the pain was mainly because of infection and it continued for over a month,” he said. He said that later they went to meet Dr Fida Hussain and requested him for USG and the result surprised them when Dr Fida told them that ureteric stone hasn’t been removed at all. “He gave us the tests and told us that the stone is still at its place. I contacted a friend of mine in Anantnag who later approached the owner of Wani Hospital Anantnag and told them why they deceived me. The owner was kind enough and he immediately fixed a date of fresh surgery which was done a few days ago and now my son is all good,” Firdous told ET at his residence today. Seeking justice, he said that action must be taken against the doctor so that any other poor isn’t looted in the future. Dr Amin refused to comment on the issue, saying he was in Delhi. “I am in Delhi and I can’t comment on this issue now,” he told ET on phone. |
