Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 15: BJP Lok Sabha member from Jammu-Poonch constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma on Wednesday clarified that he talked about Detail Project Report (DPR) of Jammu metro rail project but it was misinterpreted as ‘project’.
Talking to The Early Times, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that on the floor of the Lok Sabha he informed that august House that DPR of the Jammu metro rail project has almost completed. “It was misinterpreted that I stated that metro rail project is almost completed”, he said, adding, “My intention was to the inform the House that DPR has been completed so the project should be extended to Vijaypur so that people will avail benefits of the AIIMS”.
As per the given report, Jammu Light Metro will operate 17 hours a day round the year, while Srinagar Light Metro will operate daily during summers and 14 hours during winters.
The metro rail lines will have only elevated corridors as the underground tunnels are not found feasible. The coaches of the Metro lite system will be modern, lightweight, and made from stainless steel and aluminium with an air-conditioning system, as per the DPRs.
The Jammu Light Rail System will have a 23 KMs length with 22 stations between Bantalab and Bari Brahmana.
“I demanded regarding extension of Jammu Metro Rail from Jammu-Bari Brahmana to AIIMS Vijaypur in my Parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha”, he said and added that he urged the Ministry of Urban Development that DPR for laying of Jammu Metro Rail is going to be finalized from Bantalab to Bari Brahmana but at a short distance from Bari Brahmana Station All India Institute of Medical Sciences’ Jammu work has not been taken up.
He said that Jammu Metro Rail which is going to be laid from Jammu to Bari Brahmana should be extended up to AIIMS Vijaypur so that patients, staff, and people of Jammu can avail the benefits of Jammu Metro Rail up to AIIMS.
