Vocational training programme on Poultry Farming concludes at KVK Samba

SAMBA, Dec 15: A 3-day long training programme on poultry farming organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Samba and sponsored by ICAR concluded here today.
More than 40 poultry farmers and farmwomen participated in the training programme. The programme was organized under the aegis of Vice Chancellor Dr. J.P Sharma and under the guidance of Dr. S.K Gupta, Director Extension (KVKs).
Director Extension, Dr. S.K. Gupta was the chief guest during the valedictory function of the training programme. Dr. Gupta in his address exhorted the young farmers to turn into entrepreneurs and twirl poultry farming into commercial ventures as well as take benefit from different schemes of the government for the poultry entrepreneurs to realise the vision of turning the state into a poultry surplus state.
Dr. Vinod Gupta, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Samba in his address highlighted that such training programmes for the welfare of the farming community are being conducted on regular basis. He also stressed to raise awareness on the importance of scientific poultry farming to realise the maximum benefit from poultry farming.
During the course of training programme a team of experts delivered expert lectures on different aspects of scientific poultry farming. Dr. Suraj Amrutkar, Poultry Scientist sensitized the farmers about different disease and their prevention coupled with their treatment strategies. Dr. Ashwarya Pandoh, Poultry Extension officer, DAH, Samba sensitized the farmers about the different schemes of the government in the poultry sector for the welfare of the farmers. Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Scientist (Animal Sciences), KVK Samba and the training coordinator sensitized the farmers about the feeding, breeding, management aspects of the poultry farming.
Dr. Neerja Sharma, Scientist (Horticulture) presented the vote of thanks. Others who participated in the training programme included Dr. A.K. Sinha, Dr. Saurav Gupta, Dr. Shalini Khajuria, Dr. Amit Mahajan and Sahil Talgotra.
