He advised the local militants to save themselves from the "white collar terrorists", who he said "are making fortunes out of their miseries." "I wish the militants or terrorists should come home and become a good citizen of country. You should save yourself from the "white collar terrorists' who pollute your mind," Lt Gen Pandey told reporters on the sidelines of a function in south Kashmir's Shopian. He asked the militants to look at families of those who have made you pick up guns. "See to the families who have made you terrorists and find out where are they and where are you. You should see your parents as you are the support of parents and the country. Give up the weapon, come back," he said. "If you (militants) have issues within the families, solve them within. If there is any difficulty, we will show you the right path," he added. "One terrorist gets killed, he makes another. A youth who takes arms gets killed in two to three months. While as this white collar terrorist is busy in identifying youth who has issues with father or is involved in drugs or is a failure is class. He picks him and tries to pollute his mind. He gives him gun and makes him a terrorist," Lt Gen Pandey said. "and his (white collar terrorist) son and family will keep on flourishing." He said the parents of the militants should ask questions to those who push their son to violence. The GOC reiterated that to effectively break the cycle of violence, the society has to address these "white-collared terrorists," who influence and corrupt young impressionable minds of our youths and instigate them to pick up arms. The Corps Commander said this year less number of youth have taken up arms. Earlier, the Chinar Corps organized the annual "Chillai Kalan" Festival at the Batpura sports stadium, Shopian. This year was dedicated to the memory of CDS Gen Bipin Rawat and others who lost their lives in the accident on December 8. The much anticipated event, which coincides with the ongoing nationwide celebrations of the 'Swarnim Vijay Varsh', was well received and witnessed a large footfall of more than 2000 locals from Shopian & Pulwama districts, a defence spokesman said. |
