AGENCIES NEW DELHI, Dec 15: There has been a decline in terrorist incidents and security situation has improved in Jammu and Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A, Home Ministry informed Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said. "There has been a decline in terrorist incidents and security situation has improved since August, 2019." The Minister said in his reply the number of terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018 was 417, which came down to 255 in 2019, and 244 in 2020. By November 30 this year, the number of terrorist incidents was 203. "Infiltration and abetting of terrorist activities from across the border have affected the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The Government has taken various measures which include proactive operations against terrorists, identification and arrest of over ground workers of terrorism, action against members of banned, supporters organizations, intensified night patrolling and checking at Nakas, security arrangements through appropriate deployment, coordination meetings amongst security agencies, high level of alertness maintained by the security forces, legal action in cases of terror funding," Rai said. The Article 370 and 35 A which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir were abrogated on August 5, 2019. The state was divided into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. |
