Public outreach program held at Panchayat Kah under weekly Block Diwas | | | EARly Times Report
KATHUA, Dec 15: As part of weekly Block Diwas proceedings a Public Outreach Programme was held today at Panchayat Kah of block Nagrota Gujjroo in Billawar. The DDC Chairperson Kathua Mahan Singh; Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Yadav; DDC members, District and Sectoral officers, besides a large number of people attended the program. The program witnessed scores of individuals and deputations including PRI members projecting demands and apprising the District Administration about the problems faced by the inhabitants of their respective areas. The people submitted memorandum of demands highlighting issues including better road connectivity, drinking water supply in uncovered areas and other amenities. The other main issues highlighted during the programme include provision of road connectivity, drinking water supply in uncovered areas, issue of pending forest clearance and shortage of staff in Health and Education Department etc. DDC Chairperson Mahan Singh said the Government of India has sanctioned over 600 cr recently for the smooth implementation of Jal Jeevan mission to address the drinking water needs of the people of JKUT. He said as many as 385 hand pumps are being earmarked for Kathua district out of which over 100 hand pumps have been installed which will improve the overall potable water availability scenario of the district. He lauded government for declaring Dyalachack-Billawar-Basohli and Kathua- Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah-Doda as National Highway which will give huge fillip to Tourism sector besides opening employment opportunities to the locals in the unexplored areas of Kathua district. On the occasion listening to the demands of people, DC gave patient hearing and passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues. He said the government has launched initiatives to promote self employment for youths to make them self reliant. He said schemes like PMEGP, NRLM, NULM, MUMKIN, Tejaswani etc are to be availed by the unemployed youth of Rural and Urban areas to explore the new avenues of income generation as per their skills and interest. He said the department of agriculture and allied sectors is offering 50% subsidy on tractor, farm equipment, dairy, livestock etc with the aim to double the farmer’s income. While suggesting measures to opt readily available resources as substitutes to cattle feed, the DC said farmers should switch to silage making for which the Department of Animal and Sheep Husbandry is extending hand holding through their different schemes. He appealed to PRIs to come forward in identifying eligible and deserving people to get benefitted from youth centric schemes. He also called upon Panchayat heads to ensure that all the eligible pensioners are being registered with the Social Welfare Department. He informed that Revenue Records are being digitized and all entries in revenue records and subsequent updation will be done online under DILRMP- LRIS in coming times. On the issue of delay in installing the Electric transformer, DC directed XEN PDD, to expedite the work and submit the status report. He informed the gathering that necessary permission has already been granted to the BDOs for the procurement of computers for panchayats. He said the pending liabilities in MGNREGA has been viewed seriously, and further directed field functionaries of RDD to accomplish already taken up works in order to do away with liabilities.
