International production oriented theatre workshop begins

JAMMU, Dec 15: International production oriented theatre workshop inaugurated here today at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by the senior functionaries of Natrang Suresh Kumar and Neeraj Kant. The workshop organized by Natrang for the benefit of theatre enthusiasts of J&K is being conducted by Aarushi Thakur Rana, who is an England based Theatre Director, Writer and Actor. Speaking at the occasion, Secretary Natrang Neeraj Kant informed that Natrang has chalked-out a series of training/orientation programmes for the youth and children to provide them a platform to explore and express their creativity. This endeavour of Natrang also aims at filling the gap of the hindered training and practice opportunities because of corona crisis. He complemented the expert directors/trainers who have come forward to enlighten the theatre aspirants with their vast experience.
The workshop director Aarushi Thakur Rana is a professional Theatre Director, Writer and Actor based in the United Kingdom. She is the first Indian from Jammu and Kashmir whose directorial debuts have been performed in the most prestigious Nehru Centre, London, Mayfair, Zoroastrian Centre, London in 2019 and Kala Ghoda Arts festival, Mumbai in 2018, at Tagore Hall Chandigarh in 2018 and at the Kingdom of Dreams, Delhi in 2017. She has for far written and directed more than 30 full-length plays and acted and produced 300 plays which have been performed both nationally and internationally in Russia, Germany, London and India.
Having graduated from one of India's most prestigious academic institutes St Stephens College, Delhi, Rana went on to pursue her academic interests by completing a Master’s in International Politics from the University of Leicester in the UK.
Those who are attending the workshop include Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Meenakshi Bhagat, Palshin Dutta, Diksha Pandita, Sushant Singh Charak, Gautam Sharma, Mohit Kaul, Asma Gul, Sonali Dub, Vasudha Sawhny, Vikram Dharia, Raghav Singh, Abhinav Singh Rajput anf Sanket Bhagat. The workshop is being coordinated by Mohd Yaseen.
