SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmad inaugurates T20 Christmas Celebrations Cup

DODA, Dec 16: Senior Superintendent of Police Doda, Mumtaz Ahmad inaugurated the T-20 Christmas Celebrations Cup for the Chenab Valley Cricketers in an impressive and well attended function at Cricket Stadium, Doda.
The tournament in which 18 teams drawn from the Doda and Kishtwar districts are participating is being organized by Doda Police Headquarters in collaboration with St George Convent School Batote, with the objective to celebrate the Festival of Christmas together through T20 sports , to promote the sports culture and to channelize the energy of the youth in a right direction.
SSP Doda appreciated the organizing team for taking initiative and to conduct cricket tournament and said that J&K Police is regularly conducting sports events on almost all the occasions with the objective to promote sports culture, communal harmony among masses and specially to involve maximum youths in sports activities so that they may remain away from drugs and other related things.
In the inaugural matches, United Club Doda & New Sairaj Doda defeated their opponents by showing good cricket. In the first match United Doda defeated UK Club Doda by 45 runs. Batting first United Club Doda scored 151 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 16 overs with Waqar Ashraf scoring 66 runs, Tahir Ashraf Wani scored 34 runs. For the bowling side Umar took 3 wickets while Arshad Bhat, Burhan and Ashiq took 1 wicket each.
In reply UK Club Doda managed to score 101 runs and thus lost the match by 45 runs. From the UK Club Arshad made 27 runs, Yasir made 18 and Mayur score 13 runs to the total. From the bowling side Burhan took 4 wickets while Waqar and Shehraj shared two wickets each. Waqar was adjudged as man of the match for his all round performance.
In another match, New Sairaj Doda defeated Combined Bhaderwah Club by three wickets. Batting first Combined Bhaderwah Club scored 109 runs in the allotted 15 overs for 9 wickets with Irfan 27 runs, Sameer Malik 23 runs and Ashraf 22 runs. From the bowling side Babar and Arif took 3 wickets each.
In reply New Sairaj Doda chased the target in last over of the game by losing six wickets thus won the match by 4 wickets. Sameer Sheikh scored 25 runs and Nasir made valuable 12 runs to the total. From the bowling side Amaan took 3 wickets while Ufan took 2 wickets. Babar was declared man of the Match.
