Earlier approved in 2019, two medi-cities for Kashmir, Jammu once again approved by SAC | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday approved the establishment of two medi-cities-one each in Kashmir and the Jammu division. A decision in this regard was taken in the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council (AC) meeting held under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Interestingly two medi-cities were earlier also approved by the State Administrative Council (SAC). On September 14, 2019, the SAC, which met under the chairmanship of then-Governor Satya Pal Malik, had approved the policy document for setting up of two Medi-Cities in Jammu and Kashmir along with identification of land by the Revenue Department for the purpose. It was informed that the J&K government was laying emphasis on the provision of quality healthcare facilities to people and expanding the coverage of public health institutional networks. After two-years and three months, Administrative Council once again approved the establishment of two medi-cities, one each in Kashmir and the Jammu division. An official statement said that the AC, which met here under the chairmanship of the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, approved the proposal of the Industries and Commerce Department to establish two medi-cities, one each at Sempora, Pampore in the Valley and Miransahib in the Jammu division. The Medicity in Kashmir Division will be established in an area of Sempora, Pampore Pulwama. The centrality of the place will act as a focal point for the whole population of the Valley for specialized health services. Similarly, Medicity in Jammu division will be established at Miransahib, Jammu. The land is ideally located close to the main city and can cater to the medical service requirements of the entire division. |
