In SKIMS, Ayushman Bharat Scheme a sheer torture for people | Attendants exposed to severe hardships, benefits come hardy, authorities mum | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: One can easily find how the much hyped Ayushman Bharat Scheme is made a troublesome affair for people. In Kashmir’s premier health institute SKIMS, the ‘Golden Card’ holders are actually made to move from pillar to post for availing the benefits that come under the scheme. According to the reports coming to the fore, in SKIMS, the patients admitted in the hospital ought to get the medicines ranging from 2 thousand to 5 thousand and in many cases more than 10 thousand rupees free of cost on per day basis. However, availing the benefits under scheme has been made herculean by those at the helm. Let us reveal step by step how torturous it is to get hold of the free medicines. In the first phase, an attendant accompanying the patient has to himself click pictures from his mobile phone from different angles of the patient who is admitted in the hospital ward. Then the attendant has to stand in a long queue for hours together to reach the Ayushman Bharat counter established in the hospital premises. Then, the attendant has to submit the admit file and share the pictures of the patient through Bluetooth to the official's phone. Then both the photos as well as the file are scrutinized and a package form is issued. Then the attendant has to go back to the ward where the patient is admitted. There he has to make the paramedic staff fill the names of the medicines on a different form. Once this process is done, the attendant has to stand in the long queue again. This time with both medicine list form as well as the package form. After spending atleast an hour in the serpentine queues, the attendant reaches the Ayushman Bharat counter. There both the forms are stamped. Then the patient has to stand in another queue in order to reach another counter. This counter is the place where some medicos from the Ayushman Bharat scheme are stationed. These medicos re-check both the forms and stamp them again. The game doesn’t end here. The attendant then has to stand in yet another line. This line is for the hospital drug counter. Here again, an attendant has to spend an hour again. After reaching the counter, he is given only those medicines that are available at the drug counter. The attendant has to get another form to enlist those medicines that are not available at the drug counter. This form is then stamped with the words “Drug not available at hospital counter.” This is not all. The patient is asked to get the medicines from the market and hunt for those shops that are enlisted under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The attendant then along with the package form, medicine form and drug not available form rushes to the market. One wonders whether the SKIMS administration and those at the helm for the scheme intend to make the scheme a flop show? |
