| GGM Science College celebrates Swarnim Vijay Varsh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 15: NSS GGM Science College under the patronage of Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan today celebrated ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ to commemorate the glorious victory of 1971. Vijay Diwas is observed to commemorate the service, valour, and sacrifices of the gallant men of the Indian Armed Forces’ victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
On this day, homage was paid to the soldiers who had defended the nation in the war by NSS volunteers Anchal Singh, Manyaveer, Avinash, Abhishek, Vishal Sharma and Isha Sharma by reciting poems and the courage stories of the war heroes. The Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 which began on December 3 lasted for 13 days and officially ended on December 16, after which Pakistan surrendered to India. Army of Pakistan surrendered before India with around 93,000 soldiers. It was the “Greatest Ever Victory” and India rose as a regional power to reckon with.
