| GDC Hiranagar organizes webinar on COVID-19 and Diabetes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
HIRANAGAR, Dec 16: Department of Zoology, Govt GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar organized a webinar on Covid -19 and Diabetes mellitus- a serious concern. The event was organized in collaboration with IQAC of the college.
The key speaker on the occasion was Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Wani, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Zoology Govt Degree College, Doda. The event started with the welcome note by Manjot Singh, Assistant Professor in Zoology. The key speaker deliberated in detail the number of diseases such as smallpox, Russian Flu, Asian Flu, cholera, HIV AIDS and now the covid-19 pandemic. He also talked about Diabetes mellitus, its types like Type I, Type II and Gestational diabetes. He also highlighted the symptoms and preventive measures to be adopted by the people suffering from this disorder. In his concluding remarks he focuses on People with diabetes represent a large vulnerable segment of the COVID-19 population. The inter-relationship between diabetes and COVID 19 should trigger more research to understand the extent to which specific mechanism of the viruses might contribute to worsening glycaemia control. The presentation was followed by discussion on the topic in which faculty members and participating students raise their queries.
The event was organized under the guidance of Principal Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma and Coordinator NAAC, Prof Sujat Khan. Formal vote of thanks was presented by Babita Kumari, Assistant Professor in Zoology. Faculty members and students of different Degree Colleges participated in the event. |
