KVK Leh webcasts PM's address on natural farming

LEH, Dec 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), SKUAST-K, Leh webcasted Prime Minister's address on 'Natural Farming' at village Chemday of Karu block in Leh district. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) J. P. Sharma, HVC of both SKUASTs of UT of Jammu and Kashmir and Prof. Dr. D.M. Makhdoomi, Worthy Director Extension, SKUAST-K, Dr. F. D. Sheikh, Sr. Scientist and Head at KVK-Leh monitored and supervised the whole webcast of the event. The webcast was a part of the conclave on Natural Farming held in vibrant Gujarat summit. Many prominent personalities including Union Ministers Amit Shah, Narendra Singh Tomar, Chief Minister of Gujarat B. Patel and Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devabrata were also a part of the event.
Governor of Gujarat who worked exclusively on Natural farming during his previous stint as Governor of Himachal Pradesh gave a very detailed lecture on Natural farming through the use of cow dung and urine. He discussed upon the various Soil related issues arising out of continuous use of chemical fertilizers and elaborated upon various natural farming practices like Jeevamrita, Bijamrita and other natural farming practices. Prime Minister in his address to the nation deliberated upon the harmful effects of chemical led farming and advised them to practice natural farming to keep the planet earth safe and fit for survival. He also asked the farming community to avail the benefits of different agricultural programmes and practice sustainable agriculture based on use of local resources. The programme was attended by all subject matter specialists from KVK-Leh Dr. Sabiya Asmat, Dr. Kunzang Lamo, Dr. H. L. Verma, Dr. Parveen Kumar and technical staff of the Kendra including Sonam Angchuk, Rigzin Safal, many farmers, youths and farm women from the region.
