Fire causes extensive damage to hotel | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 16: A major fire broke out in a six story hotel at Sanat Nagar area of uptown Srinagar causing extensive damage to the property, here on Thursday. Divisional Fire office Farooq Ahmed told UNI that the fire broke out around 9.45 am in the ground floor of a six story "hotel Cardoba" at Sanat Nagar area of uptown and engulfed the entire building. He said initially three fire tenders were rushed to the spot from fire station Rawalpora, Natipora and Srinagar headquarters to douse the leaping flames. However, as the fire enraged more fire tenders were pressed into service for assistance from Rangreth, Gowkadal, M A road and a nearby station. "It took almost three hours for eleven fire tenders to douse the fire,'' he said and added "that the fire caused extensive damage to three storeys of the hotel". However, no one was injured in the incident, he said. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, the Divisional Fire officer added. |
