Animal Husbandry Deptt conducts awareness campaign across 4 districts of Jammu Division

JAMMU, Dec 18: Extension and Publicity Wing of the Animal Husbandry Department Jammu concluded the three day extensive awareness campaign launched in the hilly districts of Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi and Udhampur.
The campaign was organised as per the instructions of Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Sagar D. Doifode.
During the tour, awareness camps were organized in several villages of concerned districts in the presence of sarpanches, panches besides a large number of farmers including women and officers and officials of the Department.
During the course of the awareness camps, the Extension officer, Dr. Vinay Kumar Gupta and his team of officers explained the benefits under various schemes/programs of the department of Animal Husbandry Jammu to the farmers and urged them to come forward, associate with the department and avail the incentives in the form of unprecedented 50% subsidy on different components viz. Dairy units and Milk Collection, Processing and Transportation infrastructure, establishment of Cattle Feed mill/plant, Silage bailing and packaging unit, TMR Block making unit, Mini Tractors, starting new Poultry farms, caged Vehicle for poultry transportation etc for their socio-economic uplift.
In line with the series of initiatives taken by the Director Animal Husbandry Jammu for making Jammu division milk-surplus from currently being milk-deficient, special emphasis was laid on increasing the ambit of Integrated Dairy Development Scheme.
The need for induction of more and more good quality milch animals into the hinterlands of the division was stressed to increase the milk production besides employment generation.
On the sidelines of awareness camps, the queries of farmers regarding various health related issues of their livestock were also addressed and appropriate treatment suggested, wherever necessary. Important tips about proper nutrition, housing and overall care of the animals in order to improve their productivity were also provided to the farmers.
Farmers hugely appreciated the efforts of the Animal Husbandry department Jammu aimed at providing greater focus on farmer-welfare through creation of numerous employment generating avenues by means of various schemes in vogue in the department. They also expressed their gratitude towards the department for conducting much needed mass awareness drives and making the latest techniques and interventions in dairy and poultry sectors accessible to farmers living in remote areas too.
