| Poonch: NPS teachers await salaries | | |  Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, Dec 18: The government teachers appointed under New Pension Scheme policy in Poonch District are up in arms against the Education Department for withholding their salaries.
Talking to Early Times, the District President of Teachers’ Joint Action Committee Poonch Shahanwaaz Kazmi said that the teachers working under NPS in all districts have been getting their salaries except Poonch district due to unknown reasons.
“Teachers are unable to meet their daily needs due to non release of their salaries. Teachers in all districts except Poonch have got their salaries. Salaries of teachers in eleven zones have not been released,” he said.
He appealed to the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch and concerned ZEOs to release the salaries of teachers appointed under the NPS scheme at the earliest. “We are being told that there is shortage of funds in a particular head. This excuse is totally unacceptable, he added.
“Apart from teaching, we have been working hard to execute several central as well as state sponsored schemes meant for children like providing books, nutrition, scholarships etc to them but the department has turned a blind eye towards our sufferings,” he said.
