| GDC Banihal organizes 'Know Your Constitution' | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 18: NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College Banihal organizes a lecture on Constitution of India by the name of "Know Your Constitution "as a part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav under the overall supervision of Principal Dr. Manohar Lal and mentorship of NSS Programme Officer Prof. Ajay Kumar (HoD Sociology) and Prof. Ram Parkash (HoD Mathematics).
The Principal highlighted the democratic and secular values enshrined in the Constitution. The expert speaker was Prof. Mukhtar Ahmed (HoD Political Science). He spoke extensively about the historical legacy of the Constitution, significance of Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties, Directive Principles, Judicial review, Panchayati Raj and Centre-State relations. The NSS Programme Officer Prof. Ajay Kumar read out the Preamble to all with audience and also deliberated upon various other features of the constitution like Universal Adult Franchise, Emergency Provisions, Parliamentary form of government, Bicameralism, Parliament's power to amend the Constitution, to create new states and so, on. Students also delivered speeches on the occasion. Prof. Ram Parkash concluded the programme with a vote of thanks. |
