Gujjar leader urges GOI to establish Tribal council in JK | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 19: Shamsher Hakla Poonchi the prominent Gujjar leader and intellectual of J&K demanded to Govt. Of India to establish tribal developmental council in J&K with the financial and developmental power for development and welfare of Gujjar Bakarwal tribe. He further demanded to Govt. Of India to sanction special package for the permanent settlement of nomadic Gujjar Bakarwals people of J&K. Hakla also demanded to Govt. Of India for sanctioning the special package for providing of basic facilities of life like road communication, electricity, water supply schemes, medical facilities and educational facilities in the areas that are inhabited by Gujjars Bakarwals in J&K. Hakla also appealed to the Govt. Of India for including Gojri language in the 8th Schedule of the constitution of India. This would ensure the development and spread of Gojri language. Hakla further said that the Gojri language is being spoken by a very large number population of Gujjars Bakarwals of Jammu & Kashmir the number of which goes over many lakhs which is no way could be ignored and their only mother language is Gojri. Therefore keeping in view the demand of such a huge number of populations of Gujjars Bakarwals of Jammu & Kashmir the inclusion of Gojri Language in the 8th schedule of Constitution of India, is most genuine and justified. He added. He urged the Govt. Of India to reserve the Assembly segments and Lok Sabha segments in J&K for the Gujjar Bakarwal tribe because of Schedule Tribe status already granted to them by Govt. Of India. Hakla said that in Jammu and Kashmir there are Thirty One (31) states Assembly and two (2) Lok Sabha segments which are inhabited by Gujjars Bakarwals and such segments should have been reserved for Gujjar Bakarwals tribes. But due indifferent attitude of the previous J&K state governments the Gujjar Bakarwals tribe stands depraved of this political reservation right of assembly segments and Lok Sabha segments even after 28 years of Schedule Tribe (S.T) status already granted to them by Govt. Of India. |
