Harsh Dev accuses BJP of undermining its poll promises
12/19/2021 11:07:36 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 19: Accusing the BJP of having sold its every single slogan for the lust of power, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and former Minister said that multifarious acts of "treachery" committed by the Saffron Party in quick succession during its three-year rule after its ascendance to power had shocked the conscience of the people particularly its political constituents.
As per the party statement, with a lengthy unending list of compromises made by BJP for the crumbs of power, its leaders had badly shot themselves in the foot for which Jammu would have to limp for years, said Harsh. He was addressing a massive public rally at Barmeen in the Chenani-Ghordi constituency today.
Accusing the BJP Ministers and MLAs of dancing to the tunes of Mehbooba during their coalition rule, Singh said that the people of Jammu were soaked with the sweat of shame on seeing the Saffron leaders crossing all imaginable limits of sycophancy. He regretted that the BJP failed to understand that its compulsion to collaborate with PDP in administration was required to co-exist with its need to confront its ally over fundamentals. It, unfortunately, divorced its bold promises and public interests and sacrificed them at the altar of so-called 'political constraints' which was nothing but a euphemism for a selfish marriage of convenience, lamented Harsh. While the Army was belittled and betrayed by the unholy alliance, the anti-nationals and stone pelters were glorified and pampered, regretted Harsh. He said that the govt. nod for withdrawal of cases against 9730 stone pelters who were earlier denounced by the BJP as Pak agents, while it was in opposition had created huge resentment and embitterment amongst the nationalist forces across the country. And as if that was not enough, the BJP-PDP govt. came out with a new Rehabilitation policy for the surrendered militants that envisaged a fixed deposit and a fixed monthly honorarium for those militants who decided to give up guns after having joined the armed insurgency. "Earlier during its coalition, the BJP shocked us by its conduct but during the last 2-3 years, the shocks have been replaced by routine. It has proved that there are no bars for it, no red lines and it can cross all the limits of political debauchery to remain glued to power", said Harsh.
Singh said that the cowardly conduct of BJP's MLAs in Assembly and the statements of its MPs in parliament even recently have completely shattered the faith of people in BJP leadership who are now looking for a change. The development has come to a grinding halt and the unemployed youth are seething with rage. The farmers, the traders, and the civil society is fatigued with its false narrative and empty rhetoric. The bureaucrats have failed to deliver, the people were eagerly awaiting for an end to proxy rule in the erstwhile state.
Making a mention of the unwholesome compromises made by BJP for power including those on refusal to grant of holiday on 23rd September and declining dogra certificate, Singh said that herculean efforts would have be made to strengthen the multiple dents inflected upon Dogra honor by these self-proclaimed champions of Jammu. "Is there anything more valuable than self-pride? And is there anything ghastlier than an insult to our honor?" roared Harsh. While FIRs were lodged against Army and amnesty granted to anti-nationals and stone pelters, the BJP and its Cheer leaders remained conspicuously silent and tight-lipped. Where were they who swore by the sovereignty and nationalism at the drop of hat and nailed anyone and everyone for not doing enough for the security forces and for nationalist people? The so-called champions made one surrender after the other under the smokescreen of national interest.
While accusing BJP of contemptuous maltreatment to Jammu, Mr. Singh said it had disdainfully ignored our issues, grievously injured our self-esteem, and virtually threatened our identity and culture. "It needed to go" roared Harsh urging upon the huge gathering to support him in his crusade for justice and his fight for the restoration of dignity and honor of the Jammu people. He said that restoration of statehood and early elections were a must to put J&K back on rails.
Manju Singh, General Secretary NPP while making a particular mention of some of the other promises made by the BJP during Elections as part of its core philosophy, pointed out that it had made a categorical statement for 5 seats for PoJK Refugees, 3 seats for Kashmir migrants and 33% reservations for women in Legislative Assembly as assured in its vision document which has been consigned to the dustbin. Likewise, the commitments made in the vision document pertaining to the provision of 6% vertical reservation to Ex-Serviceman and Martyr's families, have all fallen flat and torn to tatters.
