Jammu, Dec 25: The movement of trains to Jammu remained affected for a sixth consecutive day today due to farmers’ agitation in Punjab as 16 trains had to be cancelled fully while 20 trains were either short-originating or short-terminated. Due to the cancellation of trains, a plethora of people are standing at the doors of travel agents in Jammu in order to travel outside the state. A passenger, Aaqib Anjum Aafi, who was traveling to Delhi on December 25 said, “A journey that could’ve been available for Rs. 400-Rs. 500 on a sleeper train ticket is available at Rs 2000 on, sharing basis on sleeper ticket for buses.” A 3rd AC ticket costs Rs. 1400 on a train. The normal fair of the Jammu-Delhi route for roadways in the SRTC buses is Rs. 750. |
