BJP leaders day dreaming: Azad | Dismisses party’s claim of winning 50 plus seats, seeks restoration of J&K statehood | | Ashwani Sharma Early Times Report
Udhampur, Dec 25: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday termed BJP’s repeated claim of getting 50 plus seats in the Assembly elections, yet to be announced, as a “day dreaming.” Talking to reporters after a Christmas Day function in Udhampur town Azad said, “BJP leaders are day dreaming by claiming that their party will win 50 assembly seats in J&K.” He said that communal harmony in the Union Territory should be maintained at all costs. “On this auspicious day I pray to God to bless J&K and the rest of India with peace and prosperity,” he said. Azad urged upon the people to follow COVID -19 protocols in letter and spirit to keep the third wave of pandemic away. All of us should cooperate with the administration in beating the pandemic which has become a threat to human health, he said. The Congress leader refused to comment on a proposal forwarded by the Delimitation Commission wherein six seats have been kept for Jammu region and one for Kashmir. “But if elections would have taken place before delimitation, it would be a good thing,” he maintained, adding: “The government should restore J&K’s statehood before conducting the assembly elections.” |
