Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 25: In order to eliminate single-use plastic across the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, government has framed City Level Task Forces for Jammu and Srinagar cities. As per the orders issued by the General Administration Department, City Level Task Forces for Jammu and Srinagar have been constituted. The City Level Task Force for Jammu to have Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation as its Chairman while Additional District Magistrate, Jammu as Member, Secretary, Jammu Municipal Corporation as Convener and District Officer, J&K Pollution Control Committee, Jammu as Member. Meanwhile, the City Level Task Force for Srinagar, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation has been nominated as its Chairman, Additional District Magistrate, Srinagar as Member, Secretary, Srinagar Municipal Corporation as Convener and District Officer, J&K Pollution Control Committee, Srinagar as Member. The committees are framed to monitor strict implementation of UT level Comprehensive Action Plan for elimination of Single Use Plastic in the Jammu and Srinagar cities, to mobilize and build a strong public movement for elimination of Single Use Plastic with wider public participation, including educational institutions (Schools, Colleges, Universities, etc), NCC, NSS, Scouts, Youth Clubs, Eco Clubs, Opinion Makers and Voluntary Organizations, said an official. He said that the committees will also encourage and promote manufacture and usage of eco-friendly biodegradable substitutes for Single Use Plastic and implement and enforce Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. |
