Jammu is no smart city, say stranded travelers | Locked, dirty washrooms paint gloomy picture of bus stand built at whopping cost of Rs 210 cr | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 27: Washrooms at general bus-stand in Jammu Smart City are in a pathetic condition. These are dirty and filthy. The bus-stand which was built at the whopping cost of Rs 210 crore mocks the development claims. Stranded travelers, who have arrived in large numbers at Jammu Bus Stand due to trains getting canceled, while talking to a local news channel said that it doesn’t look like a bus stand of a smart city. “We are being asked to pay Rs 10/ as the charges for using the dirty washrooms. Ladies toilets are locked and until we don’t pay the usage charges they don’t open it,” they said. The Sulab toilets have no soaps nor are they clean. “It doesn’t seem that Jammu is a smart city. Finding washrooms locked is adding to our woes.” “There is no one around to clean these washrooms. They are taking money from us for dirty washrooms,” they added. “The water coolers are also defunct and other facilities are also missing. Had the trains not got canceled we would not have come here. Getting stranded at Jammu bus stand has been one of the worst experiences we ever had,” travelers said. It’s in place to mention here that when this bus stand was built the authorities had made tall claims about providing all the facilities to the commuters but the pathetic plight of the bus stand belies these assertions. |
