Tajinder demands reserved seats for Sikh community in Assembly | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 30: Social and political activist Tajinder Singh demanded reservation of seats for the Sikh community in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Despite the meeting of Sikh community with the Delimitation Commission headed by Justice (retired) Ranjana Desai, no reservation whatsoever has been earmarked for the Sikhs even though Sikhs demanded for the same in the meeting, Tajinder Singh said. Tajinder said the cold shouldering attitude of the Commission means that basic rights in Jammu and Kashmir will not be extended to the Sikh minority in the forthcoming delimitation of assembly segments and demand reservation of seats for Sikhs in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Tajinder said all governments of Jammu and Kashmir in the past have deliberately ignored the basic issues of the community, the issues have piled up due to non resolution and Sikh community fail to understand the measuring Scale used by the people at helm to measure or understand the problems of Sikhs of Jammu and Kashmir. Sikhs have been neglected and discriminated against all along even in the new set of Union Territory, despite repeated promises, the Sikh community is not given the status of minority in Jammu and Kashmir UT. Tajinder also demanded reservations for Jammu and Kashmir Sikh students in all government educational institutes, Universities and professional colleges across India. |
