JAMMU, Dec 30: Unemployed engineers of the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir have taken pot-shots at the Jammu & Kashmir administration for employing retired engineers. The unemployed engineers have also voiced concern over the diminishing number of vacancies advertised for engineer posts. A group of unemployed engineers here said that instead of increasing the number of posts of junior engineers in the government departments the number has been decreasing over the past seven or eight years. They said that the number that stood around 500 in 2014 has come down to round about 250 posts. The unemployed engineers said that the recruiting agency has dropped two earlier notifications and issue schedule for examination for the third notification. They said the administration has set a time gap of 35 days thus violating the court directions that gap of 45 days should be set out between the date of examination and issuance of date of examination. The unemployed engineers has also voiced concern over the government move to appoint retired engineers on contractual basis instead of providing employment to the unemployed professionals in the field of engineering. They demanded immediate roll-back of the order so that unemployed professionals are engaged in the government departments. |
