BJP government selling off Indian assets to friends: Yogesh Sawhney | It was sold at rs. 210 crore although value was rs. 1600 crore | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 30: Senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney today reacted strongly to the disinvestment in PSU Central Electronics Limited (CEL) and its sale to a ‘dubious’ private firm by the government. He accused the BJP government of selling off profitable Indian assets, built with blood and sweat of Indian people, to its industrial friends and cheating the Indian public by doing so. Sawhney said that on one look at the whole situation, three important questions arise. Why did the government sell a profit making PSU? Why was it sold at such a low price, which is even lesser than a quarter of its actual valuation ? It was sold at ₹210 crore and its value stood around `1600 crore. Why was the interconnection between the two bidders not investigated and how could the sale go through if the interconnection existed. Sawhney said that government sales require a minimum of three while the sale for CEL was done with two bidders. On top of that both the bidders are interconnected. How could the government have proceeded with the sale if this is the case? He flayed the BJP and said that a company that indigenously manufactures electronics and defence products and one which has been making huge profits as records show should be treasured by the Indian government. “The government’s actions are widening the rich poor divide day by day; the rich accumulate wealth and climb the ladder of success while the poor are descending into deeper depths of poverty, which is also what we saw during the pandemic. All major strategic plans and projects so far have been handed over to such ‘friends’ of BJP and other factors such as experience, competence and intention are thrown out the window and ignored,” said Sawhney. |
