Govt MAM PG College takes up Clean India initiative | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 30: The NSS Unit of Govt. M.A.M College, a constituent of the Cluster University of Jammu organized a series of activities under the patronage of (Prof.) Dr. G.S Rakwal in the month of December under the Clean India Campaign, an initiative of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The month-long event consisted of three major activities which included a campus cleanliness drive, cleaning of the local water bodies and visiting a village. A special cleanliness drive was undertaken from December 6 to 8 which aimed at promoting a clean environment in the campus while a college beautification activity was also conducted during these three days. Picking up the pace from this activity, the NSS Unit then turned its attention and focus on cleaning Tawi. NSS Programme Officers along with NSS Volunteers reached the banks of Tawi where they started the process of cleaning the riverbank by manually picking up single-use plastic and other harmful substances that were polluting Tawi and its vicinity. For the final activity, the NSS team visited the village of Jakh situated in Samba district, which was recently adopted by the college. There, they interacted with the local governing body and the village people. The NSS team took up the task of cleaning certain areas of the village and surroundings of a nearby pond. In the end they expressed their gratitude towards the village people for collaborating with the NSS Volunteers and actively involving in the initiative. All of these activities were conducted under the supervision of NSS Programme Officers Dr. Koushal Kiran Thakur and Shabir Ahmed. |
