AKHNOOR, Dec 30: In the ongoing U-14 Cricket Series of 35 overs at Govt Higher Secondary School Akhnoor, match between Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor U-14 and Sunderbani Cricket Club U-14 was played. Mohan Lal Bhagat, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor) SKPA Udhampur was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohan Lal, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor) SKPA Udhampur congratulated the winning and runners-up teams.
He appreciated the Organizing Committee and other partner agencies for the successful conduct of the mega event.
He also thanked the media fraternity for covering the event with wide publicity. He said the excitement and response shown by the players from Sunderbani XI and SCC Akhnoor in the event is appreciable.
SSP stated that drugs had caused a huge loss to the youth of J&K. It has also resulted in the loss of life on a large scale. He further appealed to all to lure youths towards sports and to make aware to stay away from drugs. He appealed to youth to make sports part of their everyday life to remain fit.
Earlier, Singh CC won the toss and elected to bat first. While batting first Singh CC scored 130/10 in 28.3 overs with major contributions from Amarjeet Singh 30, Akash Singh 23, Arun Kumar 21. In bowling Sunderbani XI’s Ayush got 6 wickets while Piyush, Rahul, Lakshit and Ridham shared 1 wicket each.
In chase Sunderbani CC scored 109/10 in 32.2 overs in which Mayank scored 22, Ridham scored 17 and Rahul scored 16 runs. From SCC Arun Kumar got 4 wickets, Mayank and Raghav shared 2 wickets each where as Ritish and Vedant shared 1 wicket each.
Singh CC beat Sunderbani CC by 21 runs and led the series by 1-1.
Arun Kumar was judged man of the match, Ayush was judged best bowler, Nikhil Jamwal and Sushil Gupta were official umpires and Rahul Gupta was scorer.
