GDC Kunjwani NSS unit holds water bodies’ cleanliness drive | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 30: The NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College Kunjwani, Sainik Colony Jammu on Thursday organised water bodies’ cleanliness drive under the aegis of ‘Clean India Programme. A handout issued here said that during the cleanliness drive, the NSS volunteers under the guidance of NSS PO Dr Manjeet Singh and senior faculty Prof. Baljinder Kour cleaned the about 500 meters of Tawi area by picking up the plastic waste thrown in the water which are polluting the water body. About 35 volunteers participated in the drive with a motive to spread awareness related to cleanliness and rejuvenation of the river Tawi that is one of the objectives of the Clean India program. Prof. Hans Raj, Principal of the College appreciated the efforts of NSS volunteers in keeping the surroundings neat and clean. These drives are a wonderful experience for students to motivate them to contribute their bit to society and they are major role players to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness in one’s neighbourhood. |
