JAMMU, Jan 2: Young artists drawn from various districts exhibited cultural diversity of Jammu & Kashmir and also portrayed picture of unity in diversity through their performances on day-2 of the six-day long Inter-District UT Level Youth Festival, being organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports at Zorawar Singh Auditorium University of Jammu, here. The event is a selection/preparation camp for the artistic youth of Jammu & Kashmir to get the nod of the adjudicators for their selection in the National Youth Festival to be held at Puducherry from January 12 to January 16, 2022. Young artists representing different districts presented a variety of cultural items, which depicted tradition and culture of their respective areas. The items performed today included Bhaderwahi folk song by a group of artists from Doda district, Pahari folk song by a group from Kishtwar district, folk song by the cultural group of district Bandipora, Gojri folk song by district Poonch, besides beautiful folk songs by districts Srinagar and Pulwama. A total of 344 young artists, with 207 boys and 137 girls drawn from all 20 districts of the Union Territory are taking part in this cultural gala, excluding 48 contingent in-charges. The performances of the artists are being adjudicated by a panel of expert judges drawn from the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Radio Jammu and the Department of Youth Services and Sports. |
