Randhawa felicitates world silver medalist Charandeep Singh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 2: Former Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today felicitated Chandeep Singh—a specially-abled person—who has won silver medal in world Para-taekwondo championship recently held in Turkey. While speaking on the occasion during the felicitation function which was organized at Press Club Jammu, Randhawa said that it is a proud moment for the people of Jammu that Chandeep Singh—son of the soil—has brought laurel not only to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir but to the entire nation by winning silver medal in para-taekwondo world championship. He said that Chandeep has proved that nothing is impossible if your determination is perfect and your Will is strong. He also expressed his gratitude to the sports officers of the Union Territory of J&K for exploring hidden talent which is beyond imagination. Randhawa further urged upon the youth of JKUT to learn from the achievement of Chandeep Singh, who being a divyang has proved his mettle. He urged upon the government to appoint Chandeep Singh as ambassador of ‘Khelega India, Toh Khilega India’. Randhawa further urged upon the government that personalities like Chandeep Singh, who despite losing his limbs is a very good swimmer and a skater as well besides a taekwondo champion, should be rewarded so that he can become a role model for others. He said that the youth of the modern India is becoming drug addict and more prone to many other mental diseases should learn from Chandeep Singh. He also applauded the role of his family members who had made Chandeep a tough man. The function was also attended by Division Sport Officer, Jammu, Ashok Singh. Others who were present on the occasion include Vishal Gupta, Rajinder Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Bhagwan Choudhary and many others. |
