SRINAGAR, Jan 2: Kashmir Mountain Biking Association today organized Chillai Kalan Half Marathon from Nageen to Rajbagh at Srinagar. The marathon moved via Hazratbal, Nishat, Brain, Nehru Park, Dalgate, Zero Bridge and culminated at Rajbagh. More than 60 athletes from different clubs participated in the event. All the athletes covering the 21kms distance started from Nigeen Club at 8:35 AM which was flagged off by Tahir Mir, Junior National Athletic Coach. Later on prize distribution was held at Hotel Rose Petal wherein Zeeshan Khan Assistant Director Tourism Kashmir was the chief guest in presence of Dr Asif Iqbal Vakil, Technical Officer, Joint Director Farms SHD Kashmir as guest of honour and distributed prizes among all the athletes. Shoaib Shabir was the youngest participant and Rafiq Ahmad Zargar was the oldest participant. On this occasion, the Best Coach Award was declared by Mushatq Ahmad Bhat. The event was sponsored by Hotel Rose Petal. While speaking on the occasion, Zeeshan Khan congratulated the organizers and sponsors for smooth conduct of the event and praised the association for organizing such events as a large number of youth get involved with the sports and remain fit mentally as well as physically. He also thanked parents as they play an important role in supporting their children for taking part in sports activities. Dr Sheikh Gulam Rasool Founder & Chief Parton J&K RTI Movement, Dr Shuja Ul Bashir, Tahir Mir, Mushatq Ahmad Bhat, Shahnawaz Baba Ex National Athlete, Rehana Bhat aNational Athlete, Dr Anwar Nagoo President JK SRA, Bashir Wani, Faheem Ali, Umer Rasheed Secret KMBA, Danish Sofi Organizer KMBA were also present on the occasion. Later Mushatq Ahmad Bhat, President KMBA presented a vote of thanks. |
