Early Times Report

ANANTNAG, Jan 10: In yet another incident of sheer negligence by the officials of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), a lineman received an electric shock after the officials sitting in an office turned on the power, without caring for the poor lineman who was repairing the fault in the field.
According to the details available with Early Times a lineman Abdul Hameed from Badasgam-Anantnag received an electric shock while he was repairing a line in the Adhall-Kokernag area in south Kashmir this afternoon. The line had developed a fault due to the heavy snowfall in the area. The KPDCL officials sitting in a cozy office turned on the electricity when Hameed was repairing the line.
It was only due to the efforts of the locals that the lineman was able to come down from the line and he was immediately moved to the hospital. The locals as well as lower rung staff of the KPDCL were outraged over the negligent attitude of the people at helm. They demanded stern action against the officials, who switched on the power without checking the position of the staff members in the field.
It’s pertinent to mention here that many PDD linemen have either lost their lives or have suffered disability in the past due to the negligence of the officials sitting in the offices, who without checking the ground situation pull the power lever.
