Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 11: A two-day long International Conference on "Recent Advances in Chemical Sciences'' which was organized by the Department of Chemistry, under the patronage of Dr SP Sarswat, Principal Govt. College for Women Parade Ground, Jammu, concluded today. The second day of the conference started with the formal welcome address by Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta, Head, Department of Chemistry and Convener of the Conference. In today's proceedings Dr Muhammet Uzun, Associate Professor, Textile Engineering Department, Centre for Nano Technology and Biomaterials, Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey, and Madam Bahar Asilioglu, YKK Metal and Plastic products Industry, R&D Design center, Turkey, spoke on Biodegradable material Application for novel sustainable Textile Design. She explained the need for a sustainable environment by developing biodegradable materials so as to conserve natural resources and protect global ecosystems to support health and well being now and in the future. Dr. Ramneet Kour from Global Resource Recovery, Melbourne, Australia talked about "Advances in the treatment of waste water contaminants in Industrial settings". She explained the challenges in waste water treatment and the role of granular activated carbon in removing the advanced primary contaminants like PFAS (Per and polyfluroalkyl substances). Prof. Emeka E. Oguzie, Director, Africa center of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems & Deputy Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Nigeria, explained convergence of electrochemical corrosions and nanotechnology for sustainability. Besides, there were two technical sessions which were chaired by Prof. S.K Pandey and Prof. Meena Sharma from the Chemistry Department of University of Jammu. In the valedictory function Dr. Rajesh Kant from the department of Chemistry gave the detailed report of the conference and Prof. Anjali Abrol presented the formal vote of thanks |
